The requests from AESCD have all been approved, but only 1/3 of the budget will be unlocked due to the coup d’état on July 26, 2023 in Niger, and France’s decision to suspend its development aid to Niger.

Actions funded or co-funded by the city of Cesson-Sévigné in 2023

The actions cover the following areas:

  • Actions promoting women’s autonomy and health
  • Economic development and microcredit to support income-generating activities
  • Training

The 2022 action plan, implemented in 2022-2023, consists of 2 components:

  • Microcredit for literate women in Goubeye and Bayan Doutchi and financing reinforcement for Toudoun Makéra
  • Contribution to the solar electrification of the health center in Lougou (co-financed by SDE35)

Due to the coup d’état on July 26, 2023 in Niger, the funding from the city of Cesson-Sévigné for 2024 is not renewed.

Actions funded by other partners

The project « Improvement of maternal and child health and family planning, literacy and empowerment of women, assistance in planning development actions in the Rural Commune of Dankassari » has been approved by the Brittany Region for the years 2023 and 2024. It receives co-financing from the city of Cesson-Sévigné, from the CD35 and the SDE35.

The actions will focus on the following aspects:

Other projects in Dankassari have been approved by AELB, CEBR, and Rennes Metropole regarding access to water and sanitation. Significant contributions were planned from the Nigerian State (39% of the budget) and local populations.

Due to the coup d’état on July 26, 2023 in Niger, the funding from AELB has been canceled. The funding from CEBR and Rennes Metropole has been maintained.

With the dismissal of mayors and municipal councils in April 2024, activities have continued effectively thanks to the good collaboration between RAEDD and municipal service employees.
